How do you calculate peptide concentration?

Reconstitution is really just a division problem. Once you know how much peptide is in the vial and how much water you added, the concentration falls right out.

The short answer

Peptide concentration equals the amount of peptide divided by the volume of diluent, expressed in milligrams per milliliter. Dissolve a 10 mg vial in 2 mL of bacteriostatic water and the concentration is 5 mg/mL.

The formula

The core math is simple:

Try the peptide reconstitution calculator

Enter vial strength and water volume to get concentration, draw units, and doses per vial.

Open the calculator

From concentration to draw amount

On a U-100 insulin syringe, 100 units equal 1 mL. To find the draw, divide the amount you want by the concentration to get milliliters, then multiply by 100 for units. This is fiddly by hand, which is why the reconstitution calculator handles it for you: enter the vial strength and water volume and it returns concentration, draw units, and doses per vial.

Key takeaways

  • Concentration = amount of peptide / volume of diluent (mg per mL).
  • 10 mg in 2 mL of water = 5 mg/mL.
  • More water lowers concentration; the total peptide is unchanged.
  • A calculator converts concentration into syringe draw units.

A note on research use

The peptides supplied by Axis Peptide Labs are reference compounds for laboratory and research use only. They are intended for qualified researchers working in academic, institutional, and analytical settings. They are not drugs, foods, cosmetics, or medical products, and they are not intended for human or veterinary consumption. Documented identity and documented purity are what matter most when sourcing a compound, both of which are published on the Axis certificates of analysis page.

Every compound is tested. Every certificate is public.
